Porky Pies
Julia Gillard is not winning any popularity contests lately. This week #defame the prime minister ‘trended’ on Twitter for an extended period, and now, new research reveals that while the PM believes about half of all Australian householders will be financially better off after the carbon tax, the vast majority of individuals think she’s telling porkies.
According to CoreData’s latest sentiment pulse, nearly two thirds of Australians believe they will be financially worse off as a result of the carbon tax (63.9%).
Only 4.4% believe they will be financially better off as a result of the tax and about one third think they will be neither better nor worse off financially (31.7%).
How do you think the new carbon tax will affect your financial situation?

And while burningpants hates to be the bearer of bad news; it’s not just the Government that’s being treated with scepticism by the Australian consumer.
NAB’s been lauded in PR circles for the success of its ‘Break Up’ campaign, when asked about the persuasiveness of NAB’s latest campaign – the ‘Honesty Experiments’, few people said they’d be more likely to take out a credit card with NAB as a result.
The campaigns consist of three experiments testing the honesty of everyday Australians with the slogan that ‘Australians are an honest lot and deserve honest credit cards to match’.
One in five said they already had a credit card with NAB, but of those who didn’t and had seen the ads, only 11.5% said the ads made them more likely to take out a credit card with the bank.
For the remaining 88.5%, the ads made no difference to their intention.
However, on a positive note, more than three in five people had seen the latest ads (62.6%), so while they might not be persuasive, they’re certainly capturing people’s attention.
Do the advertisements make you more likely to take out a credit card with NAB?

Seems the twits on Twitter get things right…
Julia and her socialist cohort really need a wake up call. Their dead hand is stifling entrepreneurism with too much uncertainty. Shape up or ship out.
