Howard's End
Promises of tax cuts smart of a Government making a last ditch attempt to hold onto power if the opinions of close to 11,000 readers of The Australian newspaper’s website are anything to go by.
CoreData’s minipoll software is collating the primary voting preferences of the site’s readers this week and each week until the Federal Election is held on November 24th – and so far the Liberal party is tracking a poor second with only 31% of the votes.

Given, the website is not truly reflective of the broader Australian population with a higher skewing towards male and younger readers than the natural distribution within the wider community.
Yet with an estimated 6% degree of variance the figures are looking ominous for the incumbent Howard Government.
The newly developed CoreData VirtuMap© shows how the distribution of the 11,000 votes is spread by state, region, outer metro and inner metro region.

Another piece of new software designed specifically to monitor the election campaign is the CoreData U-Vote© piece of software, which allocates votes based on the postcode of voters and then aggregated into their respective electorates.
It seems at this stage the voting in Tasmania (note the sample sizes by Tasmanian electorate are not huge) has assisted the Greens in landing a handful of seats in the House of Representatives.
This could change mind you, when the country actually goes to the polls as those people who do not access the Internet or specifically The Australian’s site are included in the balance.
It has already been shown that the Liberals have greater support among older Australian’s, however the findings stemming from the CoreData U-Vote© software are certainly going to be hard to reverse even if they come back within the 6% estimate of swing that is possible.
Time for Mr. Howard to start packing his bags perhaps?

fisho says:
Typical of this Howard government, if all else fails then bribe the bastards!
If Howard had any guts he would have spent this “surplus” on Hospitals, education, aged care and care for the young perminently disabled. A tax benefit of $20 per week will go to the pokies or on grog!
